The very first NYCBMA bikepacking getaway! departing from Van Cortlandt Park at 8am Friday morning on July 14th, the bma rode about 50 miles from NYC to Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, with a moderate amount of climbs along the way. campfire munchies, service entrance horror stories, pagan rituals with a possible sacrifice, messenger urban legends and just fun times outside in nature! covered charged camping provided for messengers by the bma, but everyone’s invited!

A bikepacking (or for some, trackpacking) trip had been one of the goals the bma had for 2023 since talks of the NYCBMA first started. We’re so happy that this trip became a reality, and even happier with the solid crew that decided to be a part of this! We made our way out of Van Cortlandt park on Friday morning to bike about 50 miles to Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. It was a rainy weekend and the mosquitoes definitely let us know we were on the menu, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying ourselves on our trip out of the city! Shout out to jimbo and q for being absolute beasts and crushing the ride there and back riding FIXED! It was the first time bikepacking for madison, and kyle, but you two are definetly pros now. Martha was camp dog for the weekend and kept us safe from bears while jimbo was cheffin it up at the fire, and mandi kept the karaoke vibes going. What a great weekend, and we can’t wait to set the next trip up soon!
