Cobble Crit returns! This fat-tire race is a collaborative event put on between NYCBMA, CENTRAL PARK RACCOONS, deadfuckinglast, bad pony, and cryptid cycling.
“What qualifies for ‘fat-tires’”, you may ask? Your choice along the following:
- MTB 26r-29rs
- BMX
- beach cruisers & klunkers
- CX & tracklocross
- (tires either 650b or 700x35-45+)
ALL OF WHICH WILL BE ENFORCED. Anything less/smaller will not qualify.
This is an open fixed course ie unsanctioned, and unregulated traffic. Podium winners will be selected by who’s the fastest between open category and WTfemmes (🥇, 🥈, 🥉). Maybe something for first track bike, and DFL. Price of entry goes towards securing space at the next Brooklyn Bike Jumble, and redistribution.

REGISTRATION: a mandatory helmet and $10.
field limit to 30. cryptid cycling sponsored with entry fee for those registering WTFNB category (ie not open/overall category). in spite of a little drizzle occurring moments before the start, nature did not discourage our 25 racers from participating in our exclusive fat tire bike criterium! Skies cleared up, and the humidity was just lite/right. Weather was too good not to ride at night.
Entailed for the evening was merely two qualifying laps for each heat, about 8-11 riders with mixed field category (open and femme on mtbs, gravel, track bikes, etc), and a final heat of four laps - all wrapped up within an hour..! With the unconventional start announcement catching everyone off guard, some had more of an advantage than others, but that limited time became a gamble for everyone.
With new heads outperforming some that won podium last year, we also had one redeem themselves taking the W this year (having collided into another rider last year).
