There’s more to do than just an alleycat in each borough. Participants can join in sprints, skids, lock contests, and more to collect points.
The primary aim of each race is to accumulate as many points as possible. There will be three events in each race where participants can earn points.
The main event of each race is the Alleycat, with points awarded as followed to each category (Open/WTF/NB):
1st place: 7 points
2nd place: 5 points
3rd place: 3 points
4th to 10th place: 1 point
The Alleycat may include a Climb/Sprint, or it will be a separate event afterwards, depending on the race host. Points can still be earned if missed in the Alleycat (Open/WTF/NB):
1st place: 3 points
2nd place: 2 points
3rd place: 1 point
Each race concludes with a chance to earn points in a Quick Lock competition, where racers compete head-to-head to demonstrate their speed. Participants can earn one (1) point in this event.
In addition to race day events, all participants can earn one (1) point by providing video footage of the race submitted to a Dropbox/Google Drive and sharing a link for download. All footage collected will be used to create a highlight reel for each race.
The top prize, a flight to the San Diego NACCC, will be awarded to the messenger who earns the most points overall. If the winner isn’t a messenger, they’ll receive a cash prize instead. This race relies on our bike community’s support, and we aim to make it a memorable event for everyone involved. The entry fee for each race includes exclusive Borolympics merchandise, post-race food, and the remainder goes into a prize pool for the final winners. The BBQ/celebration at the end point of each race will include side events like foot down, skids, trackstands, etc. a day of speed and fun at each race as we celebrate the boroughs we call home!
